Cervical screening
Cervical screening helps prevent cervical cancer by checking for a virus called HPV (human papillomavirus) which can cause abnormal changes to cells in your cervix.
If you are 25-49 years old you will be invited every 3 years. If you are 49-64 years old you will be invited every 5 years.
Every year over 3,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with cervical cancer. 2 women die from cervical cancer every day in the UK. 99.8% of cases could have been prevented by having a cervical screening test. This test can help to save lives.

Breast cancer screening can save lives so do not ignore your invite. Breast cancer screening is offered to all women aged 50-70 years old every 3 years. During your breast screening appointment, you will have breast scans (mammograms). This can help detect cancers which are too small to see or feel.
Every year 12,000 women die in the UK from breast cancer. Early diagnosis saves lives.

Bowel cancer screening can save lives so do not ignore your invite. Bowel cancer screening is available to everyone aged 60 to 74 years old. A home test kit is sent out to you every 2 years. This kit is called a faecal immunochemical test (FIT)- you collect a small sample of poo and send it to a laboratory in the post (postage is free). Bowel cancer is the 4th most common type of cancer in the UK. The sooner bowel cancer is diagnosed; the easier it is to treat.
